All About Chelsea

One place to know everything about your beloved Chelsea FC

Chelses Vs Manu

This weekend Chelsea will travel to manchester to play against Manu at Old Trafford. Match will start at 1600 GMT.

This is the most important match of the season for both the sides. Usually a second match between the sides takes place at the end of the season as has been witnessed in the past few seasons but this time it takes place in the middle of the season therefore giving chance to each team to recover from there loss. Managers of both the teams have agreed that it is a crucial match for them but it is more important to Chelsea because of the recent slump in form. If Chelsea loses on sunday then they will be only a one point ahead of Manu who would have two games in hand.

The good news for chelsea is that there skipper John Terry is returning after completing his three match ban. He will partner Ricardo Carvalho in the center of defence.

Players to watch out for

Chelsea : Drogba, Anelka & Lampard
Manchester United : Ronaldo, Berbatov & Rooney

Hope Chelsea win at Old Trafford to continue their march towards the title. Go Chelsea Go.

Cicinho Linked with Chelsea.

Happy at Roma

Roma wing-back Cicinho has been linked with a move to the Stamford Bridge, with Florent Malouda being mooted as a possible makeweight in any deal.

The 28-year-old, however, has already expressed his desire to remain with the Giallorossi, and on Sunday his agent Ricardo Sarti echoed his client’s sentiments.

“Here in Brazil I told the press that he is fine and wants to stay in Rome,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“Of the Chelsea interest, I’ve only read about it in the newspaper. I spoke with Cicinho and he is calm.

“In Brazil they’re even talking about interest from Santos and Internacional but there’s nothing, he just wants to play for Roma.”

Cicinho has made only eight league appearances for Roma this season. He joined the Serie A side on a five-year deal in the summer of 2007 in an €11million move from Real Madrid.

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari feels he cannot partner Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka in a two-man attack at the moment as he does not have a genuine left winger at his disposal.

Scolari thinks only Florent Malouda, who is injured, can play on the left of a 4-4-2 formation, despite seeing Joe Cole previously playing in that position for England.

Wayne Bridge would also have offered a solution but the left-sided player, who can play full-back or midfield, has been sold to Manchester City.

“I will play 4-4-2 when I have a winger who can play on the left and with his left foot,” Scolari said in the Evening Standard. “When you don’t have players with these characteristics it is difficult to adapt one player to play in 4-4-2.

“Florent Malouda is the only player who can play with his left foot and he is injured. Everyone else is right-footed.”

Wayne Bridge Leaves Chelsea for Man City

Wayne Bridge

Wayne Bridge has left Chelsea for Man City in a reported £ 12 million fees. Bridge arrived from Southampton in the summer of 2003 for a reported £ 7 million. The main reason behind Bridge’s departure to Man City was lack of first team football after the arrival of Ashley Cole from Arsenal. John Terry recently spoke about Wayne and said ‘ He’ll be missed and I’m still in shock a little bit, because it’s a shame to see one of the lads go who you have grown up with and been with a long time. I’m disappointed but for him it was the right decision’.
‘We understand he’s been here and tried to break in to become a first team regular but with him and Ash being the two best left-backs around by far, it was difficult for him to break through and get as many games as he liked,’ Terry assessed.
‘I think he felt at 28 he had come to an age where he needed to play week in week out, and he will definitely get that at Man City and show people he is right up there, as I said, with Ash.
‘Once Bridgey starts playing people will realise how good he is,’ he added, before touching on the levels of professionalism he showed while at the club.
‘He was great to have around the place. A great professional too, coming in at eight some mornings to do an hour on the bike when he wasn’t playing, just to keep his fitness there so when he was called upon he did well.’
Like many Blues supporters, Terry’s own personal favourite moment of Bridge in a Chelsea shirt was that famous night at Highbury nearly five years ago, when in typical fashion he showed a burst of pace and energy, breaking into the Arsenal box to score the winner with two minutes remaining in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Jon Obi Mikel

Chelsea fans have voted John Mikel Obi as their Etihad Player of the Month for December.

The 21-year-old started all six games during December and helped to maintain the Blues’ unbeaten record away from home, including a 2-0 victory over Bolton.
Mikel has been a crucial anchor in the side with several impressive displays in the holding role, making himself irreplaceable while Michael Essien recovers from a knee injury.
It was also Mikel who intervened to deny Cadu in the 16th minute against Cluj at Stamford Bridge, helping to ensure a 2-1 win over our Champions League rivals and a place in the knockout stages.
